Product Overview

EASY-CHANGE Saddle Gullet System Gullet Gauge Bates/ Wintec /Arena

The EASY-CHANGE® Gullet Gauge is a tool that can assist you in selecting the proper gullet size for your horse. Every three to six months, you can also use the gullet gauge to check for changes in your horse's muscling.

This is a simple tool to help ensure you have the correct gullet in the saddle . A helpful tool to have at home to help indicate if your horses saddle is fitting correctly. Obviously it doesn't replace a professional saddle fit but it is a great indicator of general fit.

Both the EASY-CHANGE® Gullet System and the EASY-CHANGE® Riser System, when used together, provide a complete fitting solution with an unprecedented range of adjustment for your horse's absolute comfort and your complete peace of mind. The EASY-CHANGE® Gullet System allows you to easily adjust the width of your saddle to accommodate your horse's changing shape as he matures.

How to select the optimal gullet for your horses saddle

1) Ensure your horse is standing square and is on level ground. In order use the EASY-CHANGE® Gullet Gauge it needs to be positioned where the tree points will be within your saddle. Once you have the saddle in position make a marking under the spot where the saddle nails are located on each side of your horse. (1a) To check that your saddle is positioned correctly, check that your chalk markings are approximately three fingers distance from the edge of your horse’s shoulder.

2) Place the EASY-CHANGE® Gullet Gauge vertically over your horse’s wither. Align the Gauge with the reference point you previously noted

3) Ensure the gauge over your horse’s wither where the chalk markings are and check to see that the marked bearing area is lying evenly in contact with your horse on BOTH sides. The centre of the gauge should be well clear of your horse’s wither.

4)The gauge will now indicate the correct coloured gullet for your horse.

Repeat this process using the gauge every three to six months to ensure that your saddle remains comfortable for your horse as its shape and muscling changes with maturity and fitness level.
